Terms of Use

Last updated: 17 May 2026

These terms govern your use of the Tonight iOS app ("the app"). By installing and using the app you agree to them.

The app

Tonight is a tool for keeping watch lists and coordinating "what should we watch tonight?" decisions with a small group. The app is provided as-is; we make no promises about uptime, behaviour, or fitness for any particular purpose.

Your account

There is no Tonight account. You sign in with Apple, which gives the app a private identifier so we can attribute your additions and votes inside your group. Your iCloud account holds the data — see the Privacy Policy for the full picture.

Your content

You're responsible for the content you add to Tonight — film titles, descriptions, posters, comments, ratings, tags. You retain ownership of anything you create. By adding content to a shared group, you grant the other members of that group permission to view and interact with it inside the app.

Content that doesn't belong here

Don't add content that is illegal, hateful, discriminatory, harassing, sexual involving minors, or that violates anyone else's rights. The "Report" button inside the app lets group members flag content for the group owner. We may remove the app from a device or terminate access if we become aware of egregious abuse, but we don't actively moderate group content — by design we can't see it.

Nominative use of film and TV titles

The app deals in film and TV titles, posters, and metadata. These are referred to descriptively (nominative use) — Tonight has no affiliation with the studios, streamers, or rights-holders behind any title. Posters you attach are stored in your iCloud account and shared only with members of your group, never reused or republished anywhere by the developer.

Third-party services

Tonight uses Apple's iCloud, CloudKit, and Sign in with Apple. Your use of those services is governed by Apple's terms. Calendar and EventKit are likewise Apple services. The app does not use any non-Apple SDKs, services, or analytics.

Disclaimers

The app is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind. We don't guarantee that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that data will never be lost. iCloud sync is best-effort; the app's CloudKit retry queue covers transient failures but ultimately depends on Apple's infrastructure.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the developer is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app.

Changes

If we change these terms in a material way, we'll bump the effective date and surface a notice in the app on next launch.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes that can't be resolved informally will be heard in the courts of England and Wales.
